We offer a
W1 Professorship with Tenure W2 for Didactics of the German language
The appointment is planned for the earliest possible date.
Your responsibilities
The professorship focuses on the didactics of the German language for teacher education with the core areas of grammar didactics and acquisition of written language. In research and teaching, it will represent the field of didactics of the German language in its entire breadth. The professorship is to be active in the teacher training courses (polyvalent Bachelor of German Studies, Master of Education for primary, secondary and intermediate schools and grammar schools, subject: German). Cooperation with neighboring subjects of the faculty and the TU Braunschweig as a whole as well as with non-university research institutions and general education schools in the Braunschweig region is also desirable.
Applicants (f/m/d) should also have proven experience and a scientific profile in at least two of the following areas:
- Orthography didactics
- Vocabulary didactics
- Didactics of oral communication
- Language learning in a digital context

Our expectations
- Theoretic-conceptual and/or empirical research strength in the didactics of the German language
- Experience in teaching courses in the didactics of the German language
- Willingness and ability to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the institute, the faculty and the TU Braunschweig as well as with non-university research institutions, especially in STEM-subjects and empirical educations sciences
- First experience in acquiring third-party funding and willingness to do so in the future
- First experience with participation in academic self-administration as well as in scientific organisations
- Willingness to participate in the internationalisation of the university as well as the internationalisation of research
- Ability and Willingness to teach university courses in German and English
- Willingness to promote early career researchers
Individual career decisions and career breaks due to parental/family care leave affecting research output will be taken into account by the appointment committee.

Applicants (f/m/d) who are 50 years or older at the time the appointment commences and who have not acquired permanent civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) will be employed with employee status (Angestelltenverhältnis).
The employment is initially for a period of three years in a temporary civil servant relationship, provided that the general service law requirements are fulfilled. In the event of a successful interim evaluation in accordance with § 30 Para. 4 S. 2 NHG, the professorship will be extended by a further three years. After a positive outcome of the procedure regulated in the tenure track regulations of the TU Braunschweig an appointment to a permanent professorship in grade W2 NBesO will be made without further advertisement.
