We are looking for a recognized and enthusiastic personality in the field of road engineering.
You will represent the subject area in teaching, research and innovation. Your personal research focus should preferably be on road construction technology, in which you will promote the development of climate-friendly and resource-efficient materials and processes for the construction and maintenance of roads in both a fundamental- and application-orientated manner. Examples of topics include circular economy, energy-efficient construction, automated construction, environmentally friendly road construction and predictive infrastructure management. Under your leadership, the professorship also makes significant contributions to road design, road operation and road safety. You will continuously develop the existing, well-equipped road construction laboratory and give it a stronger scientific focus. We hope that you will actively take advantage of the many opportunities for professional cooperation at KIT, especially in the KIT Department and the KIT Centre for Mobility Systems, and that you will also become involved in the relevant expert panels.
In the field of academic education, you will represent your discipline in a didactically competent manner in German and English Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes, in particular in civil engineering and in the Master's degree programme “Mobility and Infrastructure”. In addition, you will contribute your in-depth knowledge and practical experience to the qualification and promotion of young academics. You will execute university tasks with a teaching obligation of 9 hours per week per semester.
Participation in academic self-administration is just as much a part of your self-conception as interdisciplinary cooperation and acquisition of third-party funding for research and innovation. Teaching experience and proven didactic skills are expected, which can be demonstrated by a habilitation or an equivalent qualification, also acquired outside the university. Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 47 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges).

Recognized severely disabled persons will be preferred if they are equally qualified.
Please mail your application (in German or English) with the relevant documents (curriculum vitae, list of publications, diplomas/certificates, teaching evaluations, description of previous and planned research and teaching activities, research and teaching concept, description of your own contributions in the above-mentioned areas, acquired third-party funds, statement on scientific honesty, and a concept for the further scientific development of the road construction laboratory), preferably as a single PDF file, to Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Division IV – Natural and Built Environment, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany, email: firstname.lastname@example.org by March 31, 2024.
