Full Professor of Organic Chemistry
at pay grade W 3 to commence on 1 April 2025. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are looking for a scholar with a proven track record in research and teaching, who is active and internationally visible in a current area of Organic Chemistry. The research should focus on the synthesis and application of small molecules and complement the existing research topics of the Organic Chemistry in Bayreuth. The ability and willingness to collaborate with groups from the biosciences is a prerequisite and should be accompanied by links to other relevant research areas, such as Inorganic, Physical, and Macromolecular Chemistry.
A strong publication record, successful acquisition of third-party funding and the ability to collaborate across disciplines, including initiatives to establish new research networks and coordinated programmes, are expected. Strong emphasis is placed on collaboration within the department, within the interdisciplinary focus areas of the University, in particular Molecular Biosciences, Food & Health Sciences, and Polymer & Colloid Science, and in collaborative consortia such as the Collaborative Research Centres “MultiTrans” and “Microplastics”.
The successful candidate will represent the field of Organic Chemistry in its full spectrum in all current and planned bachelor’s and master’s programmes involving Chemistry, the minor subject, the teacher education programmes, and other relevant degree programmes at the University of Bayreuth. He/she will also contribute to their further development, in particular the master’s programme Natural Products & Drug Chemistry. The ability to teach in English and German is expected.
