Technische Universität Berlin
Technische Universität Berlin, Faculty III – Process Sciences – Institute of Biotechnology and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) jointly offer an open position of a
University Professor – salary grade W3
for the chair of "Cellular Reproduction Biotechnology".
The position is to be filled in an appointment procedure within the framework of the "Berliner Modell". Reference number: III-920/19 (starting at the earliest possible / permanent / closing date for applications 10/02/20)
The professorship is expected to contribute to research and teaching in the field of cellular reproduction biotechnology in the MSc program Biotechnology.
The position is coupled with the position of Head of the Department of Reproduction Biology (Succession of Prof. Jewgenow) at the Leibniz Institute for
Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), Berlin ( www.leibniz-izw.de). Research activities should focus on understanding the functional biodiversity of gametes
and cells of the male and female reproductive tracts, their interactions, as well as biomolecules which modulate cell functions in the reproductive process
(gamete maturation, female cycle, seasonality). The creative use of modern cell culture techniques for improving assisted reproduction aims to yield long-term
support for captive breeding programs of threatened wildlife species.
Candidates must qualify for appointment according to the requirements of § 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG). These entail a completed university degree
in Biology, Biochemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences or similar denomination, scientific qualifications (Dissertation), "Habilitation" or equivalent

as a teaching portfolio (for further information please see the TUB website, direct access 144242).
We are looking for an internationally renowned personality with a leading-edge research focus in the field of reproduction biology and reproduction biotechnology of
mammals, documented by excellent publications as well as experience in procuring and coordinating third-party funded projects (particularly collaborative projects).
Diverse experiences with modern cell culture techniques (3D, "organ on a chip") as well as cell physiological and endocrinological methods in answering current reproduction
biological questions on mammals in an evolutionary context are an asset. Experience in working with wildlife is an advantage. The successful candidate is expected to
demonstrate university didactic competence, didactical and pedagogical aptitude as well as the ability to lead teams in research and teaching. Competence in supporting
junior researchers and women as well as in gender-sensitive teaching is desirable. The willingness and proficiency to teach classes in English is a prerequisite.
We are looking forward to applications from innovative and integrative personalities with the commitment to close interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments of the
IZW, with the chairs of the Institute of Biotechnology and the Faculty Process Sciences as well as other Faculties of Technische Universität Berlin, other university and non-university
institutes in Berlin, as well as the willingness to integrate into and actively develop regional and international research alliances and research foci.
The Technische Universität Berlin and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) are determined to increase the proportion of women in research and
teaching and therefore strongly encourage qualified female researchers to apply. Qualified individuals with disabilities will be favored. We appreciate the diversity of our
