With this position, TU Berlin especially addresses and aims to promote young scientists. Working field: The professorship represents the department of urban and regional economics in research and teaching. The focus of the professorship are the economic analysis and evaluation of urban and regional developments as well as potential steering mechanisms.
Candidates are expected to have skills in one of the following fields:
- analysis of spatial consequences of structural change (specifically as a result of new technologies, analysis of urban and regional locational structures),
- urban and regional economic policy (land development, the economic impact of planning instruments in urban and regional context),
- municipal finance and infrastructure funding.
The acquirement of at least one more of these fields is requested and will be considered in the evaluation criteria. The mastery of different appropriate methods of analysis and assessment is expected as well. In the courses Urban and Regional Planning as well as in the course Urban Design teaching is to be done in German and English. Furthermore, contributions to the courses Real Estate Management and Urban Management are explicitly desirable.
Requirements: Candidates must qualify for appointment according to the requirements of §100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (BerlHG); these entail a completed university degree in spatial planning, economic geography or macroeconomics with a focus on spatial aspects, scientific qualifications (PhD) as well as "Habilitation" or equivalent scientific achievements (i.e. publications), practical experience (providing expertise, consulting) as well as teaching aptitude, documented by a teaching portfolio (TUB website, quick access no.
144242). Experience in project-oriented teaching is desirable.
Technische Universität Berlin is looking for an outstanding researcher and teacher capable of increasing the national as well as international visibility in the area of urban and regional economics in urban planning. A successful track record in securing and leading research projects and research groups is desirable.
Communication skills, personnel management capabilities and the willingness to continuously develop interdisciplinary co-operation with other departments of TU Berlin, research establishments outside university as well as on the international level are a prerequisite. Furthermore the readiness to take on administrative tasks is essential. You should be willing and able to deliver courses in German and English.
