University Professor - salary grade W2
in the field of
"Cooling and Acoustic Damping in Aero-Engines", as temporary W2 professorship in an exchange model (Beurlaubungsmodell).
The professorship includes a research and leadership position at the DLR Institute of Propulsion Technology in Berlin, and is initially limited to 5 years - with the option of an appointment renewal.

Working field:
The professorship shall represent teaching assignments at the Technische Universität Berlin in the field of liner research for the degree programs Engineering Science, Aeronautics and Astronautics and Mechanical Engineering to the extent of 2 SWS.
The Technische Universität Berlin and the DLR seek to intensify the cooperation in the field of cooling and acoustic damping in aero-engines in the future and to enhance the joint exploitation of resources.
Sought-after is a management personality with several years of proven professional and leadership experience, relevant specialist expertise, scientific achievements and academic teaching
experience in the area of acoustically damping wall elements (liner) with a special focus on:
- Passive noise attenuation in cold and heated flows
- Physical understanding and optimization of liner geometries and novel damping concepts
- Concepts for aero-engine liner
- Sound propagation in ducts with acoustically treated wall elements
- Experimental methods in liner research
- Core noise sources in aero-engines
- Generation of indirect combustion noise
- Noise attenuation in hot stream applications
- Signal processing
- Impedance education
Requirements:
Candidates must fulfill the appointment requirements for professorships in accordance with §100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act) [information sheet available by request],
including habilitation or an equivalent qualification. In addition extensive experience in the acquisition and leading of recognized research projects on national and international
level, research activities in the field of Combustion Acoustics and Noise Attenuation as well as didactic skills and academic teaching ability are essential prerequisites. Social
skills and the ability and willingness to collaborate with partners both inside and outside of DLR and TU Berlin complete the range of requirements. Good English language skills are desired.
