The successful applicant will cover research and teaching in the field of business administration with a focus on IT management and digital transformation.
Appointment requirements are governed by Section 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
Successful candidates must have a research specialization and excellent record of research activities in the field of information systems, especially in the areas of IT management and digital transformation. They should also demonstrate a history of research in several of the following areas: e-business, data science, and IT infrastructures, especially in platforms, IT governance, and interoperability. The applicant’s research should also connect to the field of digitalization in business administration. They should be familiar with the most up-to-date methods and debates in the field of information systems, especially in relation to behavioral science, design science research, and the economic implications of new technologies in a networked, digital economy. They should also have international teaching experience at the university level and have excellent knowledge of German and English enabling them to teach in the respective language. They will support early-career researchers in the aforementioned areas of research, for example, by supervising doctoral candidates, teaching courses in doctoral programs, and mentoring within research projects. The candidate should be prepared to acquire and implement externally funded research projects, and have prior experience in interdisciplinary work and joint research projects with companies.
The professor will become a member of the Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) and as such will contribute to its interdisciplinary research groups in digital industries and services, digital humanities and society, and digital health. Alongside teaching and contributing to the regular bachelor’s and master’s degree programs within the Department of Information Systems at the School of Business and Economics, a number of their tasks in research and teaching will be connected with the Einstein Center Digital Future.
Along with the regular official duties of professors listed in Section 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
The appointee will contribute to teaching in courses offered by the department, especially in the area of information systems at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. They should be able to teach this material in English. In the medium term, they will teach organization and management within the general professional skills courses. Additionally, we expect the new professor to publish research results in highly ranked, international journals focusing on information systems. The professor will be expected to engage in the acquisition of third-party funding (via the EU and German Research Foundation) and address subject-relevant gender and diversity issues in their research and teaching.
