Tenure-Track Professorship (W1 to W3)
in Protestant Theology / Educational Theology with a major focus on New Testament Studies and Exegesis

The candidate will be appointed with status as a civil servant for the fixed term of initially three years. Following a positive intermediate evaluation, the contract will be extended for further three years.
Having successfully completed the final evaluation at the end of his (or her) sixth year in office, the candidate can be appointed to a permanent W3 post.
The candidate contributes to the field of theology and exegesis of the New Testament in bachelor’s and master’s degree courses in German and English. The appointee will examine and supervise theses on bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. level. Also, she or he will supervise practical studies in school in accordance with LVVO. The candidate will participate in academic self-administration according to the legal requirements.
The position requires research expertise in the field of theology and exegesis of the New Testament as well as in biblical didactics. The candidate will represent our university of education in research of didactics of religious education differentiated according to school type and level.
The candidate researches in disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts and raises third-party funding.
Participation is expected in the design and implementation of in-service training at the University of Education. S/he will support the internationalization of teaching and research and s/he is committed to the transfer of innovative formats for teaching and learning and research results to schools and other educational institutions.
The candidate has to provide four hours of teaching per week during the first three years and six hours per week between intermediate and final evaluation, in each case in addition to supervising and supporting students‘ school internships during term.
A degree in Teacher Education or Theological Studies and a Ph.D. thesis of outstanding quality are required as well as a certificate of teaching in schools for three years. Lack of teaching experience in schools can possibly be made up for in an adequate manner. Applicants are expected to be experienced in teaching at university level of protestant theology/religious education.
