The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Tenure Track Professor (W1)
of Livestock Tissue Metabolism
at the Institute of Animal Science to be filled as soon as possible. This is a grade W1-professorship for which recruitment payments can be offered.
The successful candidate (m/f/d) should have a research focus in livestock physiology (ruminants, pigs, poultry) with a specific emphasis on micro-anatomy and molecular metabolism of tissues. Collaboration on interdisciplinary research topics of the University of Hohenheim and close interactions with other groups of livestock sciences and the research network Hohenheim Center for Livestock Microbiome Research (HoLMiR) are expected.
Teaching is expected in the Master’s program’s Agricultural Biology and Agricultural Sciences with subject-related topics taught in German and English language. The teaching load will comprise four contact hours per week.
The position offers attractive conditions for tenure-track appointees. This professorship is particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. The requirements for an appointment are a completed university degree in Veterinary Sciences or Veterinary Medicine, pedagogical suitability and a doctorate of outstanding quality.
If the requirements for civil service are met, the appointment will be a temporary civil service position for six years. After six years, the applicant may be appointed to a W3-position if the requirements described in the University’s quality assurance guidelines are met. The appointment to a W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and through a simplified appointment process. More information on quality assurance and evaluation is available at

With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
The University of Hohenheim seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages female scientists to apply.
