Job description:
The candidate will conduct research and teach at the post-doctoral level within the Sedimentary Systems Research Group. Responsibilities include supervision of the sedimentology lab
and the biomarker extraction line. The goal of the first year is to develop innovative research ideas and write research proposals. The position also includes a teaching load of 4 semester hours per week.
Requirements:
- Ph. D. in the geosciences in the area of sedimentary systems, geomorphology, Quaternary geology and/or marine geology.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated research accomplishments through peer-reviewed scientific publications in the field of sedimentary systems on a variety of space and time scales.
- University teaching experience in the field of sedimentary systems.
- Laboratory experience.
- Very good language skills in German and/or English, qualifying to teach courses in the respective language.
- Experience in the following areas is a plus: biomarker analysis, sediment core analysis, provenance analysis, terrestrial and/or marine geomorphology, organic and inorganic geochemistry, and cosmogenic nuclides.
- Experience in soliciting and conducting externally funded projects.
- The integration of new quantitative and digital approaches and methods in teaching and research of sedimentary systems.
