Research Assistant Position (f/m/d) on Underlying nonlinear science of hybrid SOA-fiber laser systems with feedback (Ref. 22/44)
Mohrenstraße 39, 10117 Berlin, Deutschland
With Professional Experience
The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises seven non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes belong to the Leibniz Association.
WIAS invites applications for a
“Research Assistant Position (f/m/d)
in the Research Group
(Head: Dr. U. Bandelow) to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The position is associated with the DFG research project:
Underlying nonlinear science of hybrid SOA-fiber laser systems with feedback
within the DFG-RSF Cooperation programme: Possibility for Joint German-Russian Project Proposals in all Fields of Science.
Field of work: The research will concern the mathematical modeling of SOA-fiber laser systems and conducted in close collaboration with Prof. Sergei Turitsyn (Aston Univ.) and Prof. Guillaume Huyet (Instutut de Physique de Nice).
Wanted: The successful candidate will have completed PhD degree in theoretical physics, have good knowledge of laser physics, nonlinear optics and nonlinear dynamics, as well as experience in the numerical and asymptotic bifurcation analysis of distributed laser systems. The candidate will be also familiar with the existing software tools for numerical bifurcation analysis of such systems.
What we offer:
Close mentorship: the postdoc candidate will receive responsible and careful mentorship. We emphasize fostering a healthy mentor-mentee relationship.
WIAS Berlin is a premier research institution known for its strength in optimization, optimal control, dynamical systems, and applied mathematics in general. It has hosted flagship conferences in mathematical optimization such as ICCOPT 2019.
A certified (Audit berufundfamilie) family-friendly work environment.
Berlin is one of the most culture-rich and diverse international cities in the world. It offers endless opportunities to enjoy life outside work, while being very affordable compared to other major cities.
