Research Assistant / PhD Student
(Salary Scale 13 TV*L)
This definite term position is available for 3 years. In principle, this position can be divided
into two half-time positions.
The Chair for Software and Systems Engineering (http://sen.uni-konstanz.de/) is developing
methods and tools for the design and analysis of complex systems. We favor a model-based
approach combined with formal and algorithmic analysis methods. Application areas include
safety analyses for critical cyber physical systems, in particular in the automotive domain.
We are a member of the newly founded Centre for the Advanced Study of Collective
Behavior. We offer English language academic courses from a large range of foundational
and applied topics in software and systems engineering and formal methods. Your tasks
include a contribution to research and teaching, thereby also shaping our activities. There
will be the opportunity to prepare a PhD thesis during the term of this position, and pursuing
a PhD is highly desired. In exceptional situations, candidates possessing a PhD can be hired
as postdoctoral fellows in the same pay scale.
You possess a scientific graduate degree (Master's level) or a PhD in Computer Science with
excellent grades. You have a solid background in software engineering and its formal
foundations. You feel comfortable working on foundational as well as application-oriented
problems and you are interested in an interdisciplinary perspective. You enjoy developing
software and you have significant software development experience. You possess excellent
English language proficiency in speech and writing. While full proficiency in German is not a
requirement for this position, it is recommended that candidates acquire a basic proficiency
during their employment.
