Research Assistant (PhD candidate) – 0.75 working time – salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen
Faculty II – Institute of Theoretical Physics / SFB 910 Reference number: II-435/20 (starting at 01/01/21 / until 31/12/22; the opportunity of an extension is envisaged / closing date for applications 21/08/20)
Working field: The position is attached to the Collaborative Research Center SFB 910 "Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems: Theoretical methods and concepts of application" in project B4: "Control of flow patterns in complex fluids on the micron scale". The research focuses on the control and design of flow patterns in complex fluids of various types including active fluids. It uses appropriate continuum models but also particle-based simulations. The preparation of a PhD thesis is possible.
Requirements: Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in physics or a comparable subject, very good knowledge in theoretical physics. Prior knowledge in statistical physics of soft matter and biological systems as well as experience in numerical methods are desired. Independent work style and high level of commitment. Good command of German and/or English ist required; willingness to learn either English or German.
