PROJECT MANAGER (m/w/d)
full time (39 hours a week)
in the Research Group of Dr. Lucia Melloni, Department of Neuroscience
We are looking for a Project Manager to be responsible for handling our ongoing research projects, including a large-scale collaboration across institutions involving partners in Europe, USA and China. You will be working closely with Lucia Melloni, the project leader, the scientific and technical team members, involving 11 academic partner institutions, and the administration to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. Responsibilities include preparing consortium agreements and/or subcontracts across research institutions, preparing and submitting financial reports, project deliverables, and status reports, monitoring compliance with ethics and data protection regulations, and establishing effective project communication plans as well as the proper execution of said plans.
The successful candidate needs to give evidence of experience in project management and the ability to lead project teams of various sizes. A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing consortium agreements and/or subcontracts across research institutions involved in collaborative projects
Coordinating the interdisciplinary team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, milestones and schedules
Submitting project deliverables and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards
Preparing status reports by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information
Preparing and monitoring budgets
Establishing effective project communication plans and monitoring their execution
Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget
Coordinating the development of user manuals, training materials and other documents as needed to enable successful implementation and turnover of the process or system to collaborators and to the research community, at a later stage.
Obtaining the grant programs' formal acceptance of project deliverables
Meeting with project team members and collaborators to identify and resolve issues
Conducting post project evaluations and identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements
A master degree in a related field
Prior experience in an academic research institution is a plus
Ability to see projects through to completion
Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies
Ablility to complete projects in a timely manner
Understanding of implementation of collaborative research projects
Experience in legal aspects of setting up and handling consortium agreements
Budget and accounting management experience
Methodical and strategic thinking
Project management skills and excellent organizational skills
Knowledge of auditing policies
Strong communication and writing skills
Very good command of English and German (written and spoken)
Starting date is September 15, 2019 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The position is for a period of three years, with an extension. Salaries are determined following the salary scale E 14 of the German TVÖD (Bund)*, depending on experience.
