The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a

Professor (W3) of Process Analytics

at the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology to be filled in the summer semester 2023.
The successful applicant (m/f/d) is expected to provide excellent and internationally competitive representation of a modern research area in the field of process analytics such as intelligent control of food manufacturing using information technology. Experience in in-line and at-line sensing, chemometric models (including machine learning), predictive methods such as statistical process control (SPC) or model predictive control is desired. On the path to "Industry 4.0" or "Smart Factory," the interface between product and process is to be further developed in such a way that, depending on the product matrix and process parameters, the equipment adapts intelligently to the circumstances. Interdisciplinary and close cooperation within the Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the Research Center for Health Sciences and the University is expected.
In the food science Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, the professor teaches the principles of process analytics as well as content from their own field in both German and English. The professor will also offer courses for other degree programs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences as well as for the interdisciplinary Master's program in Food Systems.
The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or an equivalent research and teaching record which may have been established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right to probationary employment. With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities.
The University of Hohenheim seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages female scientists to apply.
Please attach the following documents to your application: a cover letter, a statement of your future research interests, a curriculum vitae, transcripts of records and degree certificates, a list of publications, a list of third-party funded projects, a teaching record, information on teaching evaluations as well as three key publications.
