Professor (m/f) of Geomorphology
(pay grade: W 3)
to commence 1 October 2018. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are looking for candidates with a strong international reputation in process geomorphology. Beside fundamental research an applied research focus is desirable. In research and teaching, modern field and laboratory methods as well as modelling approaches are required.
The professor has teaching obligations mainly for the B.Sc. programs Geography and Geoecology, the M.Sc. program Geoökologie-Umweltnaturwissenschaften, and for the international M.Sc. programs Environmental Geography and Global Change Ecology. Of high importance is teaching in the programs for teacher education.
Ecology & Environmental Sciences and African Studies are focus areas of the University of Bayreuth. The successful candidate should show interest in interdisciplinary cooperation within the Bayreuth Center of Ecology and Environmental Research (Bay-CEER) and within the Institute of African Studies (IAS). The Palaeobotanical Foundation Rossmann is an organizational unit of the Professorship of Geomorphology.
Requirements for this position (in accordance with Article 7 and Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation), and proven excellence in teaching. Evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement as a junior professor or in a non-university environment will also be considered. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG). The ability to teach in English is expected.
