The Biberach University of Applied Sciences invites applications for a position as
Professor in "Digitization of Building Processes”
(W3 grade – Senior Lecturer in the UK system) at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Project Management. The vacancy opens on 1st of March 2020.
The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Project Management is our largest faculty, with 23 professorships and approx. 700 students. It specializes in two main areas: Civil Engineering and Project Management / Civil Engineering.
The successful candidate will be a person with proven scientific expertise in the area of digitization of construction, in the fields of planning, construction, and operation. The position is suitable for scientists with knowledge and experience in the following areas:
Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Project management, preferably with knowledge of 4.0 industry
Modeling, simulation, and optimization of control, planning, and construction processes
Relevant professional experience from project initiation to completion is indispensable. International work experience is desirable.
The successful candidate will teach the above-mentioned subject area within the Faculty's Bachelor's and Master's degree course in Project Management. He/She will also be required to offer classes for other degree courses.
The professorships of our university generally involve teaching foundation subjects, German- and English-language classes, and active participation in the university administration. This position also involves the design and implementation of research and development projects. The candidate will actively participate in the postgraduate Master Degree Course "Digital Planning and Building", which is currently under development.
A relevant degree
Ability to teach, which is usually demonstrated by experience in teaching or training
Particular ability or talent for academic work, which are typically demonstrated by the outstanding quality of the candidate's doctorate
Special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods, which have been proven in professional practice of at least five years, of which at least three years must have been spent at a non-university institution.
The applicant must fulfill the duties of a university lecturer according to Section 46 Federal State Higher Education Act (LHG).
Successful applicant will be initially employed for three years as a civil servant on probation, pursuant to Section 50(1) LHG. Once his/her suitability has been proven, and if he/she continues to meet the requirements under civil service law, he/she shall be assigned the status of a civil servant with unlimited tenure. In exceptional cases, the applicant may be employed directly as a civil servant with unlimited tenure. In cases of equal qualification, aptitude and expertise of the applicants, applicants with severe disabilities will be given priority.
