to begin in winter semester 2018/19. The position is a tenured W3 position.
The professorship is part of the TUM Department of Mathematics, whose focus in research and teaching lies at the interface of mathematics to science, engineering and economics. Due to an excellent and international faculty, English spoken Master courses as well as the elite graduate program "TopMath", the department attracts outstanding students on all levels.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Analysis and Modelling with focus on applied analysis. The teaching load includes courses in the university‘s bachelor and master programs with a special emphasis on engineering aspects.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected as well as the ability to bring a new and highly innovative research profile into the department and the scientific community of TUM.
