The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and
teaching. The Faculty of Law, Business & Economics at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
Professor of Quality Management, Health Economics and Preference Research in Oncology
at pay grade W 2 to commence as soon as possible for a fixed term of five years. The professorship is associated with the management of the clinical and epidemiological Cancer Registry of
Upper Franconia (Regionalzentrum Bayreuth) of the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL). In order to carry out the tasks at the LGL, a leave of absence from
the civil service relationship as a university professor is granted, with the removal of the civil servant's salary, pension, and benefit claims or entitlements. The tasks of managing the
Regional Centre are performed within the framework of an employment contract with the LGL in accordance with the German states' collective agreement for the public service (TV-L pay grade 15).
The position has been created by the State of Bavaria within the framework of the implementation of clinical cancer registries in accordance with § 65c of the Social Code Book V or
BayKRegG and is located at the Institute for Medical Management and Health Sciences (IMG). In coordination with the relevant Bavarian institutions, the professorship ensures that the
statutory tasks of the cancer registry are fulfilled.
This is data-centred work in which quality management and quality assurance play a major role. The ability to interpret data and to check data quality are therefore important qualifications
for filling the position. Experience in the field of oncology is desirable. Services for organ cancer centres and tumour conferences are also part of the tasks.
In addition, the future postholder will represent the subject in research and with 4 semester hours per week in teaching. Successful scientific commitment
with the supervision of research projects, acquisition of third-party funds and qualified publications is assumed. The professorship within the IMG focuses on quality management, health
economics, and in particular, preference and prioritization issues. Accordingly, skills in quality assessment, methodological competence in health economics, experience in empirical
preference research and expertise in questions of prioritisation in medicine are desirable. The focus of the professorship will also be on regional peculiarities, on the density of
care with regard to oncological-medical offers and results. National and international research networking is to be expanded within the framework of the professorship. Integration
into teaching takes place in the bachelor's and master's programmes in Health Economics. In addition, participation in other training courses is sought. The topic of nutrition and
effects on tumour formation will be one area of research and teaching. The professorship is particularly involved in the profile field "Food and Health Sciences". The University of
Bayreuth combines research expertise in areas such as food and consumer law, the ecology, biology and biochemistry of food, health economics, marketing and sports sciences.
Prerequisites for this position (according to BayHSchPG Article 7 and Article 10 para 3) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching, and a
post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor
or in a non-university environment, will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil
servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
In addition to the necessary specialist knowledge in the area of responsibility, the successful candidate will ideally have additional experience with personnel and budget responsibility
in public law organisational units to apply in the management of the Bayreuth Regional Centre. We would also like to see skills in organisational development, outstanding social skills,
in particular pronounced leadership skills, teamwork, the ability to handle criticism and deal with conflicts, and a high level of resilience.
The University of Bayreuth seeks to increase the proportion of women involved in research and teaching (in accordance with Article 4 para 1 sentence 1 BayHSchG) and
therefore particularly welcomes female applicants. All qualifications being equal, severely disabled applicants will be given priority. The University of Bayreuth strives to
further increase the diversity of its academic staff. For this reason, scholars who can help make the research and teaching profile of the university more diverse are strongly
encouraged to apply. Applicants with children are highly welcome. The University of Bayreuth is a member of the best practice club Family at University, and it offers "dual career
support" for career-oriented partners of highly qualified employees. In addition, an extended audit conducted by the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) returned a favourable review
for the University of Bayreuth's commitment to internationalization. The LGL is a member of the network Success Factor: Family.
