The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications
for a position at the General, Visceral and Transplant Surgery Hospital
(Medical Director, Professor Dr. A. Königsrainer) as a
W2 Professorship of Surgical Technology
The position is made available for a period of six years under § 50 (2)
(5) of the Baden-Württemberg state law covering higher education and
specifically the promotion of highly gifted junior researchers.
The successful candidate will represent the subject in research and
The goal of the professorship is the research and development of
surgical technologies for minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgery
with translation of new procedures to clinical practise. The successful
candidate is expected to reinforce the existing research areas of
visualisation, haptics, and tissue recognition and to expand existing
collaborations. This means University institutes, non-university national
institutions, and relevant industry.
The successful candidate must have a degree in Medicine, a doctorate,
and habilitation or equivalent postdoctoral qualification, as well as many
years of experience in the development of new surgical technologies.
He/She should have demonstrated his/her abilities with internationallyrecognized
research activities, successful applications for research
projects (German Research Foundation, German Ministry of Education
and Research) in the field of surgical technologies, and with publications
in internationally-recognized specialist journals.
He or she should have a qualification as a surgeon and have a high level
of clinical expertise in the field of minimally-invasive and robot-assisted
Proven teaching aptitude is required, specialist experience in training for
minimally-invasive surgery are additionally desirable.
