Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking, by 01.08.2021 and for a period of five years, to appoint the following W2 endowed professorship teaching 8 lecture periods per week in the subject of Health Promotion in the Department of Social Work, Health and Media at its Magdeburg site:
W2 Professor of Health Promotion and Health Management in Organisations
The health sciences education that has been delivered for over 25 years in the Department of Social Work, Health and Media is a mainstay of the university. In the fields of health promotion and management in particular, this department has extensive expertise based on the latest scientific research findings. The intention is for this expertise to be further reinforced and effectively integrated into the region by the establishment of an endowed professorship for Health Promotion and Health Management in Organisations in cooperation with our long-term sectoral partner, the AOK Saxony-Anhalt health insurance fund. The objective is to promote teaching and research in the area of expertise mentioned and to intensify the relevant transfer of expertise to organisations (companies, enterprises, public bodies, associations) in the region.
In terms of time, the holder of the endowed professorship will dedicate half of their time to guiding and implementing projects in the field of health promotion and health management in organisations with our sectoral partner. The other half of the post holder's time will be dedicated to implementing the transfer of practical expertise into teaching and research. The transfer into teaching will be achieved by taking on responsibility for 8 weekly lecture periods per semester. Among other things this will include teaching in the field of health promotion and health management at organisation level as well as carrying out teaching projects in the curriculum. The post holder will, alongside their own research and teaching in the subject area described, also develop and reinforce the cooperation between the university or department and regional health care, policy making and health science institutions. To this end, committed involvement in the transfer of expertise via the Institute for Health Promotion and Prevention in Living Environments in the Department of Social Work, Health and Media will be required. For this purpose, it will be necessary to actively promote scientific exchange in the Institute, to be involved in coordinating research activities and to contribute to publications / third-party funding applications / conferences. To implement this project, we are seeking an individual who in summary will take on the following areas of responsibility:
leadership of the "Corporate health management in dialogue" project with a high level of presence in the regional health sector in collaboration with the AOK Saxony-Anhalt health insurance fund,
conceptual design, execution and evaluation of programmes, further training and the implementation of measures in organisations in the region,
teaching activity on the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the health sciences at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Social Work, Health and Media and
scientific exchange and the initiation of new - plus support for existing - research and study projects, publication of scientific findings as well as planning and execution of conferences with colleagues in the Institute for Health Promotion and Prevention in Living Environments.
It is essential that applicants hold a university degree in the Social or Health Sciences, a doctorate in the field to which this vacancy pertains and several years' professional practice in the field of health promotion and health management in organisations.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) and the "Guidelines on the Procedures for Appointing Professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL)" as amended. These include a completed university degree, pedagogic ability, and a special aptitude for scientific work, which will generally have been demonstrated by the acquisition of a doctoral degree. Particular achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been demonstrated through several years of professional practice, at least three years of which must have been outside of the higher education sector.
