Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking to fill, at the earliest opportunity, the following post in the
Department of Social Work, Health and Media:
W2 Professor of Health Policy (m/f/o)
Thanks to its new and dynamic combination of subjects, the Department of Social Work, Health and Media is a department with an interdisciplinary focus that
offers undergraduate BA and consecutive and advanced (after a period of professional experience) MA degree programmes in a variety of disciplines.
We are seeking candidates who are interested in further developing the practical teaching and applied research in the profile areas of the university through
relevant practical and scientific activities. The subject area comprises health policy and healthcare provision in relation to social work. These subject areas
are to be covered on the following courses: BA in Health Promotion/Management, BA in Social Work, and MA in Social and Health Journalism. The post holder will
be required to take over responsibility for the modules on the named courses. It would be desirable for the future post holder to be in a position to transfer
the scientific and theoretical concepts pursued by the chair into practical projects in the city and region.
Your profile will include:
a university degree in a subject relevant to the area of the appointment,
particular aptitude for scientific work, which is evidenced by the quality of your dissertation in a subject relevant to the area of appointment,
thematically relevant research and publication experience and the readiness to critically reflect upon these in your teaching.
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of research projects will be advantageous. In addition, given the increasing internationalisation
of the university, you will have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Experience abroad is also desirable.
A further requirement is that professors should be prepared to take on teaching responsibilities in their subject area on other courses at the university.
A commitment to technology and knowledge transfer and university self-governance is expected.
General Conditions of Employment:
The conditions of employment for professors are contained in § 35 of the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt (HSG LSA) dated 05.05.2004 as amended in the
announcement dated 14.12.2010, and most recently amended by the act amending the provisions of employment law dated 13.06.2018 (official gazette LSA page 72) and
the guidelines on the procedures for appointing professors at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences dated 13.06.2018 (BerufungsRL), as amended. The ability
to conduct scientific work must have been demonstrated by the conferral of a doctorate. Furthermore, for professors at universities of applied sciences, the provisions
of § 35 paragraph 2 no. 4 b HSG LSA also apply. Particular achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods must have been
demonstrated through several years of professional practice, at least three years of which must have been outside of the higher education sector. Remuneration is in
accordance with W2 of Remuneration Order W from the Act Reforming Remuneration Law in the State of Saxony-Anhalt (BesNeuRG LSA, official gazette 04/2011) as amended.
Subject to fulfilment of the requirements, the successful candidate will be appointed to the rank of civil servant with unlimited tenure or alternatively to an unlimited
employment relationship under private law, in accordance with § 38 para. 1 sentence 9 HSG LSA.
