With around 5,800 students and over 500 employees, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is a medium-sized university at the heart of Saxony-Anhalt. Our locations in Magdeburg, once an imperial residence and nowadays the state capital, and the Altmark town of Stendal, the Brick Gothic capital and birthplace of Winckelmann, have long been known for their creative spheres, and today also offer excellent studying, working and living conditions. In an interdisciplinary environment of engineering, business, health and humanities subjects, we provide modern and innovative programmes of study and embody a culture of high quality, which is anchored in our mission statement.

Subject to the availability of funding, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is seeking, for an unlimited period, to fill the following full-time post (16 lecture periods per week) in the Department Economics, primarily at its Stendal site, by 01.10.2021:

W2 Professor

of General Business Administration/Human Resource and Organisational Management

The Department of Economics has an interdisciplinary focus and offers undergraduate, cooperative and advanced BA and MA degree programmes in different disciplines. The Role:
We are seeking to appoint a person who is interested in further developing the profile areas of the university through practical teaching and applied research. The appointee will take responsibility for all teaching and research matters relating to the Department of Economics in the area of appointment. As far as teaching is concerned, the post holder will primarily be involved in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes offered by the Department of Economics, but over and above this in relevant modules of programmes offered by other departments at both of the university's sites.

Participation in academic self-governance tasks and the organisation of teaching and studies is expected, as well as the development of the study programmes. In addition to this, committed involvement in technology and knowledge transfer with local and national industry is also required.

Furthermore, we also expect you to be prepared to offer classes in the English language, to demonstrate commitment to our further education courses and to facilitate interdisciplinary and intercultural teamwork.

Your Profile:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual who will take responsibility for the area of appointment with the focus on

  • Process Management
  • Digital Management / Work 4.0
  • Organisation and leadership in the Social Economy / Social Management
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funding and the support of research projects will be advantageous. Furthermore, given the increasing internationalisation of the university, in addition to fluency in the German language you will also have excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. Experience abroad is also desirable.

Extensive capabilities and professional success in the focus area as well as in research must be demonstrated for this professorship. Alongside a reputation as an expert, excellent teaching performance, university-level didactic skills (digital and media skills), international visibility in research and additional interdisciplinary competences are desirable.
