in Health Sciences with a Focus on Demography and Health
to be filled by October 1, 2020.
We are an interdisciplinary School of Public Health and expect candidates to be able to collaborate across boundaries of scientific fields within our School, within Bielefeld University and beyond.
The candidate will represent demography and health in research and academic teaching (Bachelor in Health Communication, Master in Public Health, both taught in German; PhD in Public Health). The position is attached to the Department of Prevention and Health Promotion (AG4). Good German language competencies are required. We expect successful candidates to relate to research topics of the School of Public Health and ideally also to other faculties of Bielefeld University.
Successful candidates have completed their academic studies in demography, sociology, economics, Public Health or related fields with a focus on demography. Focal areas in their research are effects of population dynamics, in particular ageing and migration, on (among others) the structures of health care, nursing care, and social insurance systems. An international perspective is desirable. Candidates have demonstrated their extensive public health-related research expertise through (ideally international) scientific publications and through successful applications for project funding. Additional scientific achievements with a clear focus on Public Health as well as substantial experience in academic teaching are expected. Experience in international scientific cooperation are an advantage.
The teaching load consists of a total of nine (9) hours of class instruction per week in accordance with § 3 para. 1 no. 1 LVV. Requirements for appointment are regulated by § 36 Higher Education Act [HG]).
