The successful applicant will cover the area of physical chemistry in research and teaching. The professorship is located at the institute for Chemistry and Biochemistry and has a research focus in application – orientated questions of physical chemistry.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz). The successful candidate is required to have a distinguished international track record in research and teaching in the area of physical chemistry, with a focus on application-oriented questions. We are looking for a candidate who is experienced in teaching courses of physical chemistry independently as well as experience in acquiring and leading externally funded research projects. Applicant should be able to teach seminars in German and English.
Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
She or he will cover teaching within the area of expertise in full width in the study programs at the institute for Chemistry and Biochemistry, especially the Bachelor program as well as the Master program chemistry, which is taught in English. The appointee is expected to collaborate in existing and future subject-specific research focuses and a useful development thereof. A participation in the CRC 1349 "Fluorine-Specific Interactions: Fundamentals and Function", the Cluster of Excellence "Unisyscat" or other research collaborations established in Berlin is desired. Possible research areas are for example physicochemical characterization of functional materials and/or interfaces with a focus on a molecular understanding of the underlying processes. The appointee is expected to also address gender and diversity issues relevant to the field.
Applications should include a CV, copies of all certificates of academic qualification in German or English; if applicable the letter of appointment (please add translations if needed), a list of publications, a list of courses previously taught, and evidence of teaching competence. Furthermore, please include information on involvement in ongoing and future research endeavours, joint research projects and externally funded projects, and if necessary language certificates. If applicable for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperation, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
