About

The Landau Campus of the University of Koblenz-Landau and Technische Universität Kaiserslau-tern are in the process of forming the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU). We are looking for you to help us shape our new university at the Landau location.

The Faculty 6: Cultural and Social Sciences at the Campus Landau invites applications for a
Professorship (W2) for Quantitative Methods in Economics and Business Administration(m/f/d)

The position at the Institute for Social Sciences, Department of Economics is to be filled as soon as possible.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and the University of Koblenz-Landau are committed to a policy of intense personal mentoring for students and therefore expect a strong presence of teaching staff at the university.

Your tasks

The applicant will be responsible for representing the field of quantitative methods in economics and business administration in both research and teaching. We are looking for candidates with an out-standing academic record in the field of quantitative methods in economics and/or business admin-stration, in particular (applied) microeconometrics. Applicants should have publications in high-rank-ing international journals, relevant teaching experience, and experience in raising external funding. The candidates’ areas of research should complement the Department of Economics’ research pro-file in the areas of Applied Microeconomics (e.g., Labor Economics, Economics of Education, Social Policy) and Organizational Behavior. Active contributions to the development of the RPTU (e.g., joint research proposals, scientific events, or interdisciplinary research within and across faculties) as well as participation in academic self-government are expected.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in empirical quantitative methods of economics and busi-ness administration in RPTU’s current and future Bachelor and Master programs. The teaching load is 9 hours per week per semester (SWS). Topics included should be research design, descriptive statistics, and multivariate methods for the identification of causal effects in observational data, us-ing modern programming languages such as Julia, Python, R or Stata/Mata. We also expect appli-cants to actively contribute to the promotion of PhD candidates. The ability and willingness to teach in both German and English language is required.

Your profile

Applicants have to meet the requirements of the Hochschulgesetz (Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act; HochSchG). These include a post-graduate degree, pedagogical competence, a doctorate in the field of Economics or a related field, as well as additional scientific achievements (§ 49 Abs. 2 HochSchG).

Your application

The university is committed to equal employment opportunities and strongly encourages women to apply for the position. Given equal qualification and aptitude for the position, female applicants are hired preferentially as long as underrepresentation persists and unless serious grounds outweigh equal opportunity considerations.

Applicants with disabilities will be considered preferentially as long as they are equally qualified.

Please submit your complete application documents (academic curriculum vitae, certificates and degrees, etc.) to Personalreferat der Universität Koblenz-Landau, Präsidialamt, Postfach 1864, 55008 Mainz or as a single pdf-file to bewerbung@uni-koblenz-landau.de no later than 24.06.2022 stating the reference number 31/2022.
Job interviews are scheduled for calendar week 30, 2022. For further information, please contact the Dean of Faculty 6, Prof. Dr. Werner Sesselmeier (fb6dekan@uni-landau.de).
