PROFESSOR FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT (SALARY SCALE W2, TENURED)
The Faculty of Psychology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for a position of a Professor for Psychological Assessment (salary scale W2, tenured) as an endowed professorship by the Gesellschaft für Akademische Studienvorbereitung und Testentwicklung e. V. (g.a.s.t.), starting as soon as possible.
The endowed professorship aims at the development of complex and predictive methods and procedures of psychological assessment. In addition to the application and development of modern methods of data collection and data analysis (e.g., automated procedures for the generation of test items; machine learning for the analysis of large data sets), the successful applicant advances the development, analysis, and evaluation of tests within the framework of large-scale assessments in the educational context, particularly language and aptitude tests for access to universities.
The holder of the g.a.s.t. endowed professorship represents the field of psychological assessment in the BSc program "Psychology". Core courses include the methodological and psychometrics basics of test theory and test construction as well as their application in various diagnostic contexts. The candidate has to meet the appointment requirements according to section 36 ff. Hochschulgesetz NW.
The endowed professorship will initially be funded by g.a.s.t for a period of five years. g.a.s.t. offers the opportunity to actively cooperate with the TestDaF Institute, an institute affiliated with RUB. This cooperation may include, for example, the joint acquisition of third-party funding, the use of extensive data sets from language and aptitude tests, cooperation with an IT specialized in testing procedures, integration into g.a.s.t.'s network of international testing organizations, and joint supervision of scientific qualification theses.
The successful applicant has a research profile with a clear focus on models and methods of psychometrics, item response theory, and modern statistical data analysis. Publications in internationally renowned journals, experience in acquiring competitive third-party funded projects (e.g. DFG-funded projects), and relevant teaching experience are expected. In addition, extensive knowledge in technology-based competency measurement as well as in the analysis and evaluation of language performance assessment is desired.
The Faculty of Psychology strongly values transparent and replicable research. We request applicants to describe in which way they have already implemented Open Science principles (open data, pre-registration, etc.) in research and/or teaching and will do so in the future.
At RUB, we are committed to promote the careers of women and people of color in the areas in which they are underrepresented. We therefore encourage and welcome relevant applications as well as those from non-binary or gender-queer applicants. Applications from persons with disabilities or equal status are very welcome.
