PROFESSOR FOR DISTRIBUTED SYSTEMS (W1 TENURE TRACK)

The Center of Computer Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for the position at the Department of Mathematics of a Professor for Distributed Systems (W1 tenure track) to start as soon as possible.
The candidate is expected to establish an excellent research program, to produce and publish original research, be an effective lecturer and mentor of both undergraduate and graduate students, and participate in institutional and professional processes. We are looking for scientists with an internationally visible research profile in Distributed Systems, in at least one of the following subfields:
  • Parallel and distributed computing
  • Communication systems and networks
  • High-performance, cluster, cloud, and grid computing
  • Multiprocessor and multi-core architectures and algorithms
  • Sensor networks
The successful applicant is expected to cooperate with the Horst-Görtz-Institute for IT-security and especially with the recently granted cluster of excellence Cyber Security in the Age of Large-Scale Adversaries, and to play an active role in the development of the Center of Computer Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (led by the Faculty of Mathematics and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering/Information Technology).
We expect
  • strong commitment to academic teaching at graduate and undergraduate level;
  • readiness to participate in interdisciplinary research;
  • willingness and ability to attract external funding;
  • readiness to contribute to joint research projects of the department.
The position is part of the federal-state programme for the promotion of early career researchers.

Following a successful tenure evaluation, the respective tenure-track professor will subsequently be awarded permanent tenure.
