Professor of Political Science with a Focus
on Political Theory of the Global and Digital
starting February 1, 2018 or by mutual Agreement
Candidates should have a track record of internationally recognized research in the field of political science,
proven teaching excellence and the ability to contribute to public debates.The successful candidate
will be scholar with demonstrated expertise in the conceptual and normative foundations of
international affairs and a particular focus on the normative implications of ongoing socio-political
change driven by processes of globalization and digitalization. With a research profile at the intersection
of normative and empirical international affairs, s/he would be expected to teach introductory
and more specialized courses at the Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. levels in subjects such as the evolution
and current theory of political order; global justice, human rights, political responsibility, global governance,
and digitalization in international affairs.
The new professor will join the Department of Political Science within the School of Economics and
Political Science (SEPS) and make a major contribution to research and teaching in the International Affairs
programs. S/he will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to enter into a dialogue with related
disciplines, especially economics, law and humanities, and be committed to innovative interdisciplinary
approaches to research and teaching. Proficiency in the German language is not a prerequisite for appointment;
however the successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to acquire Germanlanguage
