Professor (W2 with Tenure Track) of Education,
Area of Specialization: Primary Education
The initial tenure track appointment as professor (civil servant or
equivalent salaried employee) is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher
Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)). Upon positive evaluation,
the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent position at a
higher level (W3).
The successful applicant will represent the educational sciences
with a specialization in primary education in research and teaching.
Applications of researchers focusing on multilingualism and/or
early literacy in their empirical and theoretical work are especially
We expect the candidate's participation in research projects of
the Institute for Elementary and Primary Education as well as
interdisciplinary initiatives of empirical educational research.
The Institute for Pedagogy of the Elementary and Primary Education
offers classes for students in the teacher education programs,
especially for students of elementary education, and for students in
the BA/MA program of educational sciences. As the successful
candidate will be part of the teacher education program, practical
school-related experience is especially relevant. Because the
professorship is involved in teacher training, candidates are
required to have specific experience in this area and should be
willing to participate in interdisciplinary initiatives in the field of
empirical educational research.
The designated salary for the position is based on the German
university pay scale or equivalent. Goethe University is committed
