The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises
eight non-university research insti-tutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.
WIAS invites applications for two
PhD Student Positions (f/m/d) (Ref. 19/01)
in the Research Group
(Head: PD Dr. Uwe Bandelow) starting at the earliest possible date.
The positions are associated with the research project of the German Research Council
"Self-organization and control in coupled networks and time-de-layed systems"
within the framework of the Collaborative Research Center SFB 910 „Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems: Theoretical methods and concepts of applications“.
Necessary for employment is a scientific university degree in mathematics or physics. Moreover, some background in nonlinear dynamics, delay differential equations, or coupled
systems is desirable. The ap-plicant is expected to work on a PhD thesis project.

The initial appointment is limited for two years and can be extended. The reduced work schedule is 29,25 hours per week, and the salary is according to the German TVöD Bund scale.
