Published(805 days ago)
Deadline for applications(707 days ago)
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) is one of Germany’s leading research universities.
The University draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering
disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to
work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties. The RUB is a vital institution in
the Ruhr area, which has been selected as European Capital of Culture for the year 2010.
W1-JUNIORPROFESSORSHIP (WITHOUT TENURE TRACK OPTION) FOR BIOMEDICAL PLASMA TECHNOLOGY
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum invites applications for
the position of a W1-Juniorprofessorship (without tenure track option) for Biomedical Plasma Technology.
The future occupant of the position Interaction of plasmas with biological systems is to represent the department in this
field in research and teaching. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor.
The future post holder's scientific work should focus on one or more of the following key research areas:
Plasma diagnostics and simulation
Mechanisms of plasma-cell-interaction
Reaction kinetics on surfaces
Surface analytics with XPS, FTIR, Raman-spectroscopy, ESR
Cooperation in the RUB Research Department "Plasmas with complex interactions"
(http://www.rd.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/plasma) is expected.
A doctoral degree of outstanding quality and evidence of special aptitude in teaching are just as much required as the willingness
to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB and to generally get involved in university processes according to RUB’s
mission statement. Beside the specific skills the candidates should have a profound didactical qualification to develop new learning
environments such as research oriented learning.
We expect further more readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work, willingness and ability to attract external
funding ability to work in teams and the will to participate in collaborative research.
The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunity employer.
