For this reason, we are looking for a person with professional experience in the areas of vocational education and digitalization, with in-depth knowledge in several of the following areas:
  • Digitalization as an object and method in professional work and vocational training with a focus on electrical engineering - information technology, media technology, metal technology, civil engineering and wood technology
  • Implications of digitalization for vocational training, e.g. forms of work, training content, training personnel and ethics
  • Research on current technological developments in digitalization such as artificial intelligence, industry 4.0, virtual reality, digital product and process design and digital manufacturing processes
  • Vocational education, its places of learning and the tension between the educational system, employment system and education policy
  • Competence development, curriculum development and didactics in vocational education
  • Vocational education research, especially methodology of occupational field and work process analysis
We are specifically seeking people who would like to conduct interdisciplinary research and projects in the field of digitalization of vocational education and training in the industrial-technology sector. Profound knowledge of the German education system is expected. The candidate should be willing to acquire and carry out third-party funded projects.
Responsibilities include teaching in the degree programmes associated with the School of Technology and Innovation in Education in both German and English as well as active participation in study-related committees. A willingness to cooperate in the development of interdisciplinary courses of study is also required.
In addition, it is the task of the junior professorship to implement interdisciplinary courses in the Industrial-Technical Sciences degree programme that focus on the topics of technology, education and digitalization. The analysis of future technical and professional developments, taking into account social, ecological and economic aspects should also be a part of the courses. The courses can be opened to students of other TUHH degree programmes or integrated into the curricula of other degree programmes.
This professorship is due to commence in the summer term 2023 and is financed by the Joint Federal Government-Länder Tenure-Track Programme.
The appointment is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of an extension for a further three years after a positive interim evaluation. In the event of a positive final evaluation, the position will be converted into a permanent W3 full professorship.
