Technischen Universität Berlin, Faculty V – Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Technical Acoustics is searching for a
Junior Professorship – salary grade W1
in the field of "Data Analysis and Modeling of Turbulent Flows".
Reference number: V-261/18 (starting at the earliest possible / for a period of 3 years; an extension of three more
years is possible after successful evaluation / closing date for applications 15/10/18)
Working field: Research and teaching in the field of the analysis of huge data sets in (reacting and non reacting) turbulent flows.
The areas of research expertise of the applicant should include, but are not limited to
Analysis of large stochastic data sets in turbulent flows with the goal to quantify flow control measures
Application of analysis and modeling methods to wind turbines, gas turbines and vehicle aerodynamics
In particular we desire for intensive collaboration and participation within the collaborative research center "TurbIn" 1029 (SFB 1029). Teaching
should be extended by the above-mentioned research areas and should be offered in German and English. The willingness and ability to teach in the
English language is required. Candidates are expected to supervise students' theses on Bachelor, Master and PhD level as well as to participate
in the academic administration of the university.
Requirements: Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with §
102a BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education in engineering or physics, qualified achievements in research
and a particular qualification for academic work normally attested by the excellent quality of a PhD, and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to
be visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick access no.
In addition to the above
Outstanding research record in the above referenced areas, documented through publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
Excellent knowledge in the analysis, modelling and control of turbulent shear flows
Very good knowledge in the area of machine learning (supervised and un-supervised learning)
Experience in non-linear dynamics
Scientific linkage to existing groups within the field of flow control and combustion
Post-doctoral teaching experience
Experience externally funded projects acquisition
Good English language skills are desired.
