Junior Professorship - salary grade W1

for the chair "Mathematics – Stochastics and Quantitative Financial Mathematics"
Reference number: II-534/17 (starting at the earliest possible date / for a period of 3 years; an extension of three more years is possible after successful evaluation / closing date for applications 17/11/17)
Working field: The position requires research and teaching in the area of Stochastic and Quantitative Financial Mathematics. Possible themes of research include new volatility models ands their numerical analysis, market microstructure, applications of rough paths and regularity structures within financial modelling.
Teaching will be required in the mathematical degree programs (including undergraduate) and in the service teaching of mathematics for other programs. Teaching requirements must be met in German and English. Candidates are expected to supervise students' theses on Bachelor, Master and PhD level as well as to participate in the academic administration of the university.
Requirements: Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the junior professor level in compliance with § 102a BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education in Mathematics or equivalent, qualified achievements in research (doctorate in mathematics) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be proven by teaching experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242, details will be sent upon request).
Candidates must have international academic credentials and research experience in the areas of Stochastics and Quantitative Financial Mathematics, i.e. relevant publications in refereed journals. Experience with participation in collaborative research activities is desirable.
Applicants must show teaching and research experience at university level in the field of mathematics and in particular in the areas of Stochastics and Quantitative Financial Mathematics. Additional experience in teaching and advising and supervising Bachelor, Master and doctoral students is expected. Experience in the academic administration of the university is desirable.
The area of research expertise should allow co-operations with the current professors at the Institute of Mathematics as well as participation in current and future collaborative research activities. An active participation in ongoing collaborative research units such as the Research Group FOR 2402 “Rough Paths and Stochastic Differential Equations” is expected.
