The Munich-based Ifo Institute is one of Europe's leading economics research think tanks and enjoys a
very high profile in the media. Within the CESifo Group it works closely with the Center for Economic
Studies (CES) at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and with its subsidiary CESifo GmbH. On
behalf of the German federal government, Ifo is building up a cross-border European research network
that will address key financial and economic issues in Europe. The Ifo Institute will open an office
in Brussels specifically for this new network.
To expand our international media work, we have an immediate vacancy for an:
International Communications Manager (m/f)
The successful candidate will further develop the existing international communications activities for the
Ifo Institute and CESifo GmbH, taking them up to an ever higher level. His/her central tasks will be:
Full responsibility for the Ifo Institute's international media work
Development and implementation of the information and communication
services of the future European research network with a focus on the network's press work and its office in Brussels
Responsibility for all media work for CESifo GmbH
These tasks span the entire spectrum of international communications from making media contacts to writing and quality controlling press releases
in English, mobilising social media and organising press conferences.
This exciting, cutting-edge role should appeal to both highly-experienced
media professionals and younger digital experts with an interest in economic policy and an international profile. The position offers attractive
opportunities for development, including the possibility of taking
on management responsibility. Our ideal candidate has a sound knowledge of economics, a solid background in journalism and several
years of practical experience in journalism or public relations, as well as excellent language skills (English native speaker or
equivalent and a very good command of German would be a plus). Social media skills, a sound grasp of economic policy, a flair for
communications and intercultural
awareness are also essential.
Compensation and benefits for this position are in line with its responsibilities
and based on the German public service pay scale TV-L. The job will be based in Munich (with regular stays in Brussels).
