Founded in 2004 by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the private university New Design
University St. Pölten (NDU) is a prestigious Austrian university specialising in design with around 580
national and international students.
The well established and highly popular bachelor's course, Graphic and Information Design combines both
theory and practice of design and has become an important pillar of learning at the New Design University.
It conveys a wide range of conceptual, creative, craft and technical skills. Areas such as typography and
type design, poster and editorial design, logo development and corporate design, data visualisation and
the design of apps, websites and user interfaces are some of the range of practice-orientated disciplines

Full university professorship for
Graphic & Information Design
35 hours per week, from winter semester 2021/22
Your areas of responsibility:
- Lecturing in bachelor and master degree courses, primarily in the bachelor degree programme
Graphic & Information Design
- Supervision and support of students in the context of their course work and final projects
- Team-orientated ongoing development of the bachelor course Graphic & Information Design
- Artistic and creative research activities, national and international exhibitions and/or publications
- Implementation of cooperation projects and acquisition of third-party funds
- Active participation in academic self-governance and university activities
Your qualifications
- A relevant university master's degree, in addition to a doctorate, habilitation or equivalent artistic
qualifications – such as outstanding creative achievements or curatorial projects which are
documented by publications, prizes, exhibitions etc.
- Several years of professional experience in the conception and implementation of graphic design
and information design projects
- A didactic aptitude for academic teaching as well as proven teaching experience
- A high level of social competence and teamwork skills; enthusiasm for design and for working with
students
- A comprehensive knowledge of current industry-specific trends and their social context and a clear
position on the future perspectives of analogue and digital design
- A very good knowledge of English and a willingness to teach in both English and German
- Proven experience in the conception and implementation of research projects
The New Design University attaches particular importance to the continuous supervision of the students
and the presence of the lecturers. It therefore expects that the lecturers live within a reasonable distance
of their place of work.
We offer a monthly gross salary of at least
EUR 4,500.- (14 monthly salaries) for a 35 hour week with the
willingness to pay more depending on qualifications and work experience. In addition, attractive training
opportunities are offered.
