The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position in the Department of Internal Medicine I (Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases) as a
Full Professor (W3) of Clinical Bioinformatics
The successful applicant will be internationally recognized in the field of bioinformatics and has demonstrated scientific
excellence in research and teaching. The selected professor will head a planned research section in the Department of Internal
Medicine I and promote the integration of personalized treatment approaches into clinical practice. To achieve this objective,
new methods in biomedical informatics will be developed and applied translationally. Relevant research topics include the effect
of genetic variability on the phenotype with regard to the selection of individualized therapy, the application of machine
learning methods in the analysis of heterogeneous biomedical data or the analysis of high-throughput data from single cell
analysis. In addition to active participation in the main research areas of the Medical Faculty and involvement in existing
and planned research collaborations, such as SFBs, the successful candidate is expected to promote strong international
research networks. The selected candidate will work closely with the Department of Information Technology and Applied Medical
Formal requirements for appointment are the Habilitation or equivalent postdoctoral qualification, as well as proven teaching
aptitude. Participation in teaching in the study programs of bioinformatics, medical informatics and molecular medicine is required.
