We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research in the area of Ecotoxicology. The starting date is summer semester 2021. The appointed professor is expected to investigate the impact of environmentally active chemical compounds and other stressors on organisms and ecosystems. Accordingly, state-of-the-art biological and chemical analysis tools are to be applied to describe ecotoxicological effects of environmental stress. Research will aim at obtaining a mechanistic understanding of the biochemical principles underlying toxicological impact. Therefore, we seek applicants who combine expertise in ecology and ecotoxicological test-systems with interest in environmental chemistry and analytics. The successful candidate will strengthen various research local foci such as plant science, biotechnology, microbiology, and neurobiology. Teaching responsibilities include theoretical and practical training within B.Sc./M.Sc. programs in both Biology and Ecotoxicology as well as in teacher's education at the RWTH. Participation in existing and future research cooperations, including the Fuel Science Center (FSC) Cluster of Excellence as well as the Bioeconomy Science Center (BioSC) and the Fraunhofer IME is expected, as is participation in academic self administration.
A doctoral degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant/an associate/a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
An international reputation within the areas mentioned above, as well as excellent publications in internationally renowned journals and convincing grant revenues are expected.
