“Architectural Design and Housing”
(Code. No. 80)
The professorship will be responsible for the department "Architectural Design and Housing" in the division “Building Planning” and will represent the department in research and teaching.
The department is looking for an internationally/nationally recognized personality who, as a designing architect, can demonstrate an excellent and awarded body of built work that significantly advances current issues in housing and is connected to current discourses in society, politics, and research. Teaching duties are carried out in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs of the Department of Architecture.
In the future, the position holder will be expected to conduct research activities, for example, in the development of new housing typologies against the background of social change, the effects of the climate crisis, or the transformation process of existing buildings. In this context, particular attention should be paid to the interdisciplinary linkage of these specific thematic foci with the issues of urban planning, sociology and political science, which deal, among other things, with the effects of mobility behavior, migration, diversity or an aging society, as well as the ever-increasing urgency of these topics in the overall societal discussion. Further, experience with or a strong willingness to engage in national and international cooperation and interdisciplinary work both within the Department of Architecture and with other departments and research institutions is expected.
A degree in architecture followed by a doctorate or achievements equivalent to a doctorate is required. Furthermore, excellent practical work as an architect is expected. In work and publications, innovative approaches in the fields described above should be demonstrated in harmony with design and drafting skills. The didactic-pedagogical aptitude as well as the willingness to participate in the academic self-administration are required.
The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German “WBesoldung” and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate.
