We are seeking qualified applicants for teaching and research
in the area of the psychology of work and engineering psychology. The starting date is summer semester 2020.
The Institute of Psychology seeks to strengthen its applied focus
in the area of work psychology and to sharpen it through
research on the impact that technological innovation in working
conditions has on human cognition and behavior. For this area,
RWTH Aachen offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary
integration of psychology with sciences and engineering in the
context of RWTH's mission statement of an "Integrated Interdisciplinary
University of Science and Technology" Experience
in interdisciplinary collaborations and the willingness to expand
these are expected.
The research on work and engineering psychology is expected
to be focussed on psychological aspects of the human-machine
interface. We expect a primarily experimental approach with
openeness for other methods. Research may pursue both
applied and basic human factors questions. An international
publication record and acquisition of third-party funds are expected.
The professorship will teach in the B.Sc. and M.Sc.
Psychology curricula in the area of work and engineering psychology
as well as in psychological methods.
A Ph.D. degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (postdoctoral
lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research
achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior
professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career
outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment
to teaching are essential. The application should include
supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German
is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language
within the first 5 years.
