The Faculty of Theology invites applications for a
Full Professorship in „Jewish-Christian Relations in Past and Present“ (W2)
from as soon as possible and limited for 5 years. This is a W2 tenure track position leading to a W3. In order to verify whether the individual performance meets the requirements of a permanent employment, an evaluation process will be opened not later than after four years of service. The professorship will be funded by the „Bund-Länder-Programm zur Förderung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses.“ The aim of the programme is to pave the way for a secure career in academia for early stage researchers. A part of the cost of this professorship is provided from funds of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and its constituent churches, the Volkswagen Foundation, and the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft e. V. Tenure track professors at the HU Berlin are expected to carry out research and teaching, as well as to be active in various university committees and acquire leadership and management skills. The person appointed to this post will be competent to teach as widely as possible across the whole field of the professorship with a research specialisation in European modernity and, in particular, the effects of churches, groups, and theologies issued from the Reformation on Jewish-Christian relations. He or she will be internationally connected, have experience in the execution of research projects and the willingness to co-operate with relevant regional stakeholders in universities, museums, memorial institutions, and networks, such as the Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies. The postholder will regularly communicate the topics of his or her research to the general public and to the public with a specific concern for the field. The post is part of the Institute Church and Judaism.
