Full Professor of Engineering
Design and CAD
at pay grade W3 (minimum salary per month: € 6.683) to commence on 1 April 2020. This is a permanent civil service position.
We are looking for someone with a strong engineering background who has deep knowledge and experience in the fields of construction, design, and rating of machine elements and industrial products. Several years of successful work in the industry would be an asset.
With regard to research, the incumbent will work in several of the following fields and possess the relevant credentials:
finite element analysis
software development in the area of engineering design and CAD
material conforming design
Her or his research should link theoretical foundations to technical applications. It is assumed that the postholder, building on the basic funding with which she or he is equipped, will seek external funding for her or his research projects. Cooperation with existing research groups within the faculty and involvement in cross-faculty focus areas as well as collaborations with non-university based research facilities would be highly welcome.
The professor‘s teaching responsibilities will include key lectures and tutorials on engineering design, CAD, machine elements, and drive technology offered in the bachelor‘s and master‘s programmes. Required lectures are generally to be held in German; additional courses may be offered in the English language to encourage international exchange.
Prerequisites for this position (according to BayHSchPG Article 7 and Article 10 para 3) are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching, and a post-doctoral qualification to teach at a professorial level (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievement, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university environment, will also be considered. The ability to teach in English is expected. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants (Article 10 para 3 BayHSchPG).
