Full Professor of Ambient Assisted Living & Medical Assistance Systems

at salary grade W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position. The professorship is integrated into the Upper Franconia Medical Campus, a recently established cooperation that is expected to become a permanent fixture in the region. The Upper Franconia Medical Campus serves to train physicians in the new degree programme “Human Medicine Erlangen/Bayreuth” at Bayreuth Hospital under the auspices of the Medical Faculty of the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. With this and other new professorships in medicine, the University of Bayreuth is creating an outstanding research environment at the Upper Franconia Medical Campus. Applicants should represent the field of ambient assisted living and medical assistance systems in research and teaching with one or more of the following focal points: IoT-based assistance systems, dynamic sensor systems, biometric systems, machine learning, compressed sensing, and distributed IT security. The professor will complement and expand the research opportunities of the clinical professors of the FAU Faculty of Medicine at the Upper Franconia Medical Campus with his or her medical-related field of expertise to create a research profile that is perceived on a transregional level. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration through appropriate publications. Experience in acquiring third-party funding and active participation in knowledge transfer is a prerequisite. International networking is desired. Scientific excellence should be proven by internationally relevant publications in the field of sensor technology and assistance systems. Relevant teaching experience and an active contribution to academic self-administration are expected. Teaching is to be provided primarily at the Upper Franconia Medical Campus.
