Associate Professor or Full Professor in
» Medical Materials and Medical Implant Design «
to begin in winter semester 2017/18. The position is a tenured W3 position.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Mechanical Engineering. Existing ties to the Departments of
Medicine, Electrical Engineering and Informatics offer multiple possibilities for interdisciplinary approaches.
The TUM Institute of Medical Engineering (IMETUM) provides the infrastructure for innovative research by joining
a variety of projects related to medical engineering under one umbrella. Scientific benefit also arises from
cooperation with the Departments of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek
to appoint an expert in the research area of Medical Materials and Medical Implant Design. The teaching load
includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic
record and an internationally recognized research program, regarding the relevant career level. A university
degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude,
including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is
expected. Furthermore, it is required that the candidate has the proven ability to design medical devices (MDD/FDA).
