The faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics offers a total of 4 Bachelor-and 8 Master programs in the major fields of architecture, civil engineering and geomatics. Supported by 56 employees from laboratories and administration, 58 professors and additional assistant lecturers from economy, industry and administration educate more than 2,700 students (approx. 850 architectural students). Research activities are concentrated in the FFin, the „Frankfurter Forschungsinstitut“. A special focus in our research activities is on sustainable planning and design, especially considering renewable energies, demographic change and the development of urban agglomerations. Application-oriented projects on how to handle current and future problems in architectural design, planning and development within rural and urban areas are one of the emphases of our faculty’s research. Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences wants to strengthen internationality in architecture. Parallel to our running German master program in architecture, we are initiating a new master program „Advanced Architecture in Design and Construction“. We are looking for applicants with strong skills in design and construction as well as relevant experience from research and practical work. In the department of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics the position of an Associate Professorship for Design and Construction, limited initally to a period of two years and subject to the DAAD’s approval, is to be filled.
Our expectations of professors working within our university are as follows: We expect you to be enthusiastic about the current challenges and opportunities that construction provides for architecture as well as for the urban environment. We also expect you to help develop the new master program to become an international area for the benefit of architectural practice and research. We are looking for applicants with strong professional skills within the focus of design and construction, who can help set the agenda for the growing social and environmental challenges for the production of architecture within a profession which is undergoing changes. The successful applicant will be expected to provide innovative and high quality teaching at graduate level and help to establish the new program „Advanced Architecture in Design and Construction“.
Applicants must hold a professionally recognised qualification in architecture and have completed a PhD or equivalent. They must be part of an academic institution. Professional registration (e.g. NZRAB, RIBA or AIA) would be an advantage. Preference will be given to applicants who are experienced in teaching in the area sought, with a strong record of publication and postgraduate supervision.
