The Faculty of Law, Business & Economics of the University of Bayreuth and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are currently seeking to appoint an
Associate Professor of
Information Systems (W 2) in conjunction with
a management role in the Project Group Business & Information Systems Engineering (BISE) of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT)
to begin on 1 January 2020. The position is initially for a fixed term of 5 years. In the case of consistently outstanding achievements, it can be made into a tenured position.
The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Law,
Business & Economics of the University of Bayreuth and the Fraunhofer FIT, especially its Project Group BISE, collaborate in the field of Information Systems.
The position is associated with a leading function in the Project Group BISE of Fraunhofer FIT. Fraunhofer FIT shapes the future by combining insights from computer
science with questions from other fields with the aim of developing custom-tailored applications to support people in their jobs and to enrich their leisure time.
Combining the position with a leading function at the Project Group BISE is based on the expectation that a significant contribution will be made to the collaboration
between the University of Bayreuth, the Research Centre Finance & Information Management, and the Fraunhofer Project Group BISE. For this reason, the successful
applicant will complement the existing information systems professors. In return, the position offers a reduced teaching load of two hours per week for degree courses
in business administration and other subjects.
Applicants are expected to have a unique research profile related to digital technologies, digital business models, and/or digital transformation based on highest
methodological standards. Expertise in the areas of manufacturing, energy, mobility, and services would be welcome. Applicants should have an outstanding academic
track record evidenced by publications in internationally renowned journals. Experience with third-party funding, in particular the ability to acquire and manage both
publicly funded and industry-funded projects, is a prerequisite. The willingness to collaborate with the staff at all locations of Fraunhofer FIT is also expected. In
addition, we expect experience in setting up and leading a research group as well as experience in interdisciplinary teaching and research. We also expect the ability
to teach in English.
In addition to the general administrative requirements, prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree, proven excellence in teaching, and a
post-doctoral qualification (Habilitation). Alternatively, evidence of equivalent scholarly achievements, for example as a junior professor or in a non-university
environment, will also be considered. Only applicants who are 51 years of age or younger can be hired as civil servants. Exceptions are possible in urgent cases.
