The University of Zurich invites applications for a

assistant professorship in film
studies

The position is for a six-year period pending review after the first three years and should be filled by 1 August 2023 or by agreement.
The future holder of the position should bring the potential to represent the subject of film studies with a focus on digitality.
The position is based at the Department of Film Studies, which provides a dynamic and collaborative international environment for teaching and research. The department offers generous research and teaching support, and the holder of the position will be eligible to apply for funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation as well as many other grant programs in Switzerland and Europe. In addition, the successful candidate can participate in interdisciplinary cooperation structures at UZH (e.g. Zentrum Künste und Kulturtheorie, Digital Society Initiative) and beyond.
An outstanding PhD thesis (completed procedure at the time of application) as well as an excellent record of academic achievements and publications are required. By submitting the application candidates are asked to also hand in a statement of past research activity and a description of future teaching and research projects with a focus on digitality. Teaching experience is a plus. Teaching languages are German or English, administrative language is German.
