to begin in winter semester 2019/20. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
Scientific environment
TUM is the supporting university of the Hochschule für Politik München (HfP), and this is why the open dialogue between policy makers, society, industry and engineering is promoted. The professorship belongs to the HfP and its corresponding department, the TUM School of Governance (GOV). The TUM School of Governance focuses its research and teaching on the interaction between politics, society, and technology, for instance, to integrate future technologies into the political dialogue and political decision-making
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the support and promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Global Health with an innovative transdisciplinary political science research agenda (ideally with expertise in health and development policies) and a willingness to closely cooperate with the thematically related departments of the Technical University of Munich, such as the TUM School of Medicine, the Department of Sport and Health Sciences, or the TUM School of Life Sciences Weihenstephan. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor´s and master´s programs. We expect the successful candidate to integrate technological aspects into political science in research and teaching. Inter- or transdisciplinary approaches are therefore considered an asset.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English and German, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, the proven ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and third-party funding, and an empirical and/or theoretical focus on the intersection of health and development policies from an inter- or transdisciplinary perspective are expected.

Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
