W1 (W2) TENURE-TRACK PROFESSORSHIP FOR HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN FOR SOCIO-DIGITAL SYSTEMS
After its application to the federal-state programme for the promotion of early career researchers has been accepted, RUB is currently
implementing 18 new tenure-track professorships. Following a successful tenure evaluation, the respective tenure-track professor will
subsequently be awarded permanent tenure
The Faculty of Psychology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum will be awarding a
W1 (W2) tenure-track professorship for Human Centered Design for Socio-Digital Systems, anticipated starting date: October 1st 2019
The position covers the field of "Human Centered Design for Socio-Digital Systems" in cooperation with the Chair of Industrial, Organizational and Business Psychology at the faculty of Psychology and the Chair of Production Systems at the faculty of engineering. Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that integrates work and organizational psychology and production management, production automation and digitalization is desired. Teaching is to be offered both to students of psychology and engineering. The research focus should lie on model-driven and participatory development processes to develop work systems and adaptable user interfaces for individuals and teams that specifically support skills acquisition, skills retention, and team coordination. Another focus will be on the description, development and use of mixed reality in the digitalized production environment. Research questions should address interaction, visualization and interactive data analysis concepts. At the same time, aspects of long-term use regarding occupational-medical and perceptual-psychological factors are to be investigated.
Proof of excellent suitability for academic teaching and a profile corresponding to the area of work in applied computer science / engineering and psychology in research and teaching are required.
The appointment requirements in accordance with § 36 ff. of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz NW;
www.rub.de/appointments) must be met. Other mandatory requirements include:
Qualification for and deep commitment to academic teaching;
Willingness to engage with interdisciplinary research and collaboration;
Some experience with securing projects with third-party funding;
Readiness to participate in academic administration.
